The GS Posse scored a win this Saturday 8/30/01 in the Iron Butt class of the FASTTRAX 3-hr endurance race at Nelson Ledges.
For those not familiar, the Iron Butt class is one rider all three hours with a minimum of two 5 minute pit stops. In 3-hrs I got in 98 laps. The second place finisher scored 91.
Big thanks to Pam for all of her help at every race. Thanks to the rest of the Posse for all the help over the seasons and thanks to the whole gstwin.com gang for all of their support and knoledge.
A special shout out to www.localriders.com for providing the pit crew for the last two seasons.
Thanks everyone!
Thats excellent! Congratulations!
That's awesome! Congratulations!
3 hours is a long time to be on the track, how many times did you have to fill up on gas? What kind of other bikes were out there?
Awesome job, Greg!!
Way to lead the GS charge! Show them water-cooled, multi-valved, modern bike squids where it's really at! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
BTW, what's a typical laptime at Nelson? It's a two mile track, right?
Nelson ledges in Ohio?
70 Cam Guy:
I stopped twice for my mandatory 5 minute stops and filled up at the same time. I did take a quick pee break later in the race, too! ;)
In my class were a GSXR750, GSXR600, R6, and a Kawasaki 750 (ZX7?).
Bob:
Typical lap times for a GS500 is a low 1:20 (prolly a 1:22-1). A good rider on a well built bike with some "extra" motor can get to a 1:19. According to my lap timer, I started the race n the 26's and ended in the 35's. Nelson is indeed a 2 mile track.
Lex:
Yes, Nelson Ledges in OH.
Yeh! Congrats again Greg! :thumb: I didn't realize what the competition was riding! Anyone familiar with Nelson Ledges knows the track is pretty wide open and bikes with big horsepower go really fast there. Greg beating 600s and 750s is quite an accomplishment! Again, great job Greg!

Holy thread resurrection, bruh!!
Have you ever gone down an internet rabbit hole?
Hard to believe it has been 15 years since my finest GS moment. It's good to see the community still alive and active!
