GSXR shock here ... $75.

Katana shock here ... its actually in excellent shape. Else I'd have sliced it open when I had it popped open. I was itching to ... But its actually great. $50 for it. Its got powdercoated everything, fluid column is painted, last week.
http://picasaweb.google.com/srinath.the.man/PoppedOpenShocks
I also have a Bandit shock of some kind I am trading for fixing a shock of some other kind which I have not received yet ... OK OK later today Pics can come up. $30.
The buddha is selling all shocks ... cos there is many more that need to meet my saw blade ... or my contraption that can pop them open.
These shocks are all straight bolt in for any GS no drilling/grinding at all, no need for the aluminum linkage (89 and 90 only).
Cool.

How does the GSXR shock compare to the stock Kat6 shock?
How much shipped to 95503 northern cal for katana shock, and...........I gotta get that tire shipped out to you . I keep procrastinating on getting to the post office. I'll definitely get on it though!!
Remote reservoir adds one more adjustment to it - compression. It can be rather stiff, but the post 93 GSXR's are worse I think for being stiff.
I almost think the heavier rear wheel off the kat is going to need a bigger and beefier shock. How does the kat one work on yours ?
Rebound adjustment in a kat shock actually is the largest gain from GS stock shock. Rebound is so important ... that's why its on nearly every shock ... spring preload can almost be substituted for compression, rebound is its own beast.
Hey, next time we meet I'll show you the thing I sliced open.
How quick the shock compresses = compression.
How quick the shock expands after compressing = rebound.
How much it compresses = preload.
Cranking up preload will reduce the overall compression per impact. It works like you got a lot of resistance to compression. I will show you, and you would know.
The other advantage of a remote reservoir shock is that its unscrewable. You can deflate it and then open it and put in different weight fluid in it and try it out. It also can be resealed upon blowing for under $10 with the same technique.
Cool.

Maaa ... no worries.
It prolly be under $15 to ship it, but How about I call it at $10 shipping for you so $60.
I am atleast a month out from riding any GS ... possibly the GR motored monster will start prowling the streets in a month.
If you want me to, I'll pull a spring off the GSXR one and powdercoat it in any damn color you please, and maybe do the other stuff that is steel in black ... Possibly 10-15 bucks ...
The kat shock ... well I dumped $25 worth of color on a $25 shock looks like. Yea I do stupid sheite like that ... just cos I can ...
Anyway your call.
Cool.

Opinion, but what would be better, the older katana shock like that one or an sv650 shock?? I had the option of an sv shock for 40 shipped. I just like the bolt in option, but don't know where to mount the resevoir. Powder coated yellow red or blue would be kinda nice. You have any pics of work like that that you've done already? I don't know if I've ever seen the colored springs on a GS before.
SV shock is similar to a B6 shock - no rebound. Kat shocks are way better.
I have a B6 shock you can have for $30 and shipping and its a bolt in fit, no drilling needed, but its not nearly even close to a shock with rebound, and ofcourse that is not as good as the GSXR ... you get the idea. More dial, knobs, clickers, bells whistles ... better (within reason).
Dude - a shock is not for looks. Clean and non rusty and stuff is always good, but beyond that, its sitting under the bike with tons of crap flung at it. Its to be expected to be crappy - a little. The paint and powder on mine give it maybe a few extra years before it gets pits of rust.
Cool.

That is $60 shipped. The shock dont have a remote reservoir. I opened up the shock and took pics. Then the last one is from when I refitted it back. I know its not leaking, and I know its rebound works, I checked it by hand ... set it to 1 and do by hand, then move to 2, then 3 then 4 and check it.
The top plate of the dash is just there so I showed it to someone. That isn't included.
The shock is refitted in the pics to the right, so that is what you get.
Cool.

Ok, great, I guess its got the rebound settings at the top of the shock then and you can just set preload like a stock unit. That'll be perfect and pm me your paypal and I'll get it sent your way. As a side question I weigh about 175 with full gear and boots, so knowing your stuff I'm assuming before I throw it all in, what kind of setting would you put that on for rebound??
Set rebound at 4 ... if you dont like it turn it 3-2-1 etc ... at 1 its like a GS shock. Slowest rebound is 1, fastest is 4.
Watch your PM.
Cool.

Money sent and thanks again.
Shipping run monday ... Your's will be on it and in fact If I get delayed ... I'll have my wife drop it on her way to kiddos camp.
Cool.

Woo-hoo, Camp time!!!
Yea Kiddo's thrilled too.
I got Tang's carbs, the exhaust for Jim, and few more things to add to the pile. Nice .. .wifey's trunk is not that big ... hope it all fits, else back seat ...
Cool.

I'm currently looking for a rear shock for GSF500 2007. Do you have any thing that is as straight bolt on ? Any recommendation's ? Do you have any thing else powder coated blue or red would be nice ??
I can get you a GSXR shock at this point, I sold all the ones I had, some pending pickup, some pending payment ... whatever. The shock I am talking about are at a junkyard, and his $ is $100.
I can powdercoat anything, but remember the GSXR shock has an aluminum body - no need to paint it, and its reservoir is also aluminum. Just the spring has to be done. I'd do it for $20 (popping it open, doing powder, and refitting it). Katana shock will cost $25 (more parts on them to coat and paint - steel body)
Anyway, GSXR shock $100 is all I got, I can look and see ...
Oh wait a sec ... I have the B6 shock. $30. It can be coated too for $25. How about make it an even $50 and shipping and I'd start on it when I get back home.
Cool.

What is a B6 Shock ? Is it any good ? Is it a straight bolt on ? If the answer is yes to all of the above then YES DO IT !!! Blue, Red, Yellow ....... you decide. Let me know how to pay you. Its coming to Toronto Canada. Please remember its a 2007 GS500F.
B6 is straight bolt on. Its better than a GS, larger chamber and better spring, but it does not have rebound like katana does.
You can actually swap spring from shock to shock, so you buy a shock later, you can swap it with this one - hardest part is to open it.
Anyway, just buy a GSXR shock ... its waaaaay better, its got compression and rebound in addition to spring preload.
Cool.
Buddha.
Ok, is the GSXR Shock a STRIGHT bolt on ?? Is it in good shape ? A new bike with a rusted shock................... If you say its in good shape, straight bolt on then lets do it.
I was reading a prior post can you paint the GSXR shock ? Yellow, Red, Blue ? I'm ready to do it again it HAS to be a straight bolt on. I won't be doing it my self. I will be taking it to the mechanic and telling him to put it on. I don't want to hear him whine about .................. straight bolt on is the key.(http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc311/videosilva/P1070515.jpg)
The spring is the only part of a GSXR shock that can be painted/powdercoated. The aluminum etc is best left as aluminum.
You want a nice matched blue to the body ? Or the guy has a nice and bright yellow or a very nice red like the accent color in your bike.
OK Make it $120 and add in shipping. You have an idea how much - maybe 15-20 - I will get the shocks from the yard and take it apart this weekend, drop off the spring at powder place. then get it back when he's done re fit it and send it out.
Its straight drop in. Check out posts by user seamax on this subject. He has fit the same shock in his bike. Just some fiddling.
I typically park the bike on a 2X4 block of wood, take off the stock and put the new one on from the bottom, fiddle the reservoir into place and you're good.
My paypal is seshadri_srinath@hotmail.com - I can invoice you if needed. Dont make a mistake in the handle, it fgoes to other people.
Cool.
Buddha.
I'm trying to visualize it in my head ......... blue ?? How much all together with shipping to Toronto so that I may pay pal you ?
You want perfection - I'm your man, but please be patient.
I will send you pic and let you know what I can do with it.
I'll get good pics and a description written up, send it to you. Then you pick what you want, pay for it, I'll buy from him, split it, powdercoat etc etc like I tell you, and then have it off to you. These are not going anywhere, I have a good return policy with him, if I find one that springs a leak, I'll have it back to him and your $ back. It will look good, work like its supposed to and not have any surprises. Only thing I cannot guarantee is a shade match with the powder coating. Dont say azure blue and complain its an ocean blue. That's all. I can show you samples of work I have had done of that, and we can get some of those colors, but not a 100%. That is all I can say.
Ask Bombadillo how my powdercoating work is.
Cool.

My experiment with Plasti-Dip, a LOT of patience, a bizillion multiple coats, and a Kat 600 spring:

Looks cool Pro.

Yeah, it did look cool until I tried to reassemble the spring last night.
I did the sock trick like Ben mentioned but the S hooks still dug into the paint and ripped it up in a few places. Now, I have to sand those parts off and repaint. The good thing about this stuff (Plasti-Dip) is that it's very forgiving in terms of reapplication. Even when I overdid some sections, it didn't look bad the way normal paint might have.
Need to try something else to buffer the hooks as I'm cranking down on spring. Still brainstorming! :dunno_white:
Plasti-dip the hooks too ???
I use a different method to open/re fit it. Mine will not damage anything, but it does need more equipment.
Cool.

Plasti-dip the hooks too ???
That's GENIUS!  Actually, it may require that
and some padding. It's a whole lotta tension!
Pronater - You a little slow ?? I'd dip the hooks first before I ever did the popping open ... but anyway ... we all have our days ...

I wish it were limited to just days...
Popping it open was totally fine because it didn't really matter if the paint scratched. Actually, I wouldn't have been able to tell if it did. The socks were good enough. I think my problem may have been that I placed the hooks too low during the reassembly and it ran into the fluid column. Couldn't see because the socks were covering it up. Hard to explain but the more I look at it, the more I think that was my mistake.
And I used the spray-on Plasti-Dip, not the dipping kind. So I guess I shoulda sprayed the hooks when I did the spring. No worries, I'll try again. That's how you learn, right? :thumb:
What is Plasti Dip ?
Its a rubbery coating meant for gripping tool handles.
