Title: Pictures of my gs
Post by: facepants on June 26, 2008, 06:01:14 PM
I think I've done all the mods that I wanted to do.  I still need to paint that right fairing black to match the rest of the bike.. I kind of like that little bit of red though ;-)

And I need replace the rear turn signals to match the front, cut off the rest of the fender, and paint the headers.  Let me know what you think.

Is that speedo setup universal?  I did not see a kit for the GS?   Did you use the SV setup?

I bought mine before they came out with the SV kit.  The one they recommended for the gs was the 75-300 kit.  Here's a link: http://www.trailtech.net/75-300.html

You might want to ask them about the SV kit though because it might work better.  They're pretty helpful... they'd probably be able to send you a picture of the kit mounted to an SV fork to get a better idea of how it works.

Not too much work was involved.  I just cut the wires from the original indicator lights and attached them to the ones that came with the gauge.  Since the oil light is just a bulb, there really is no difference between the stock indicators and the vapor dash.  As for the speedo, its adjustable in the computer and they give you several ways to calculate what the settings should be.  I've tested the speedo for accuracy by having someone drive along side me, and later I got a hold of a gps unit that calculates speed, but it was already extremely close so there was no need for adjustment.

The tach was a bit of work... the instructions that come with the gauge tell you to wrap a wire around the spark plug wire, but that wasnt very accurate.  I ended up attaching the tach sensor to the coil and that did the trick.  I just tested it by attaching the stock tach and running both to make sure they matched.

I'm one of the laziest people I know... so if you don't have that problem, it shouldn't take too long for you to wire it up.

Yeah, they put out plenty of light... it seems like more than the stock headlight.  I was thinking about having the swingarm powder coated... I mean, if I'm going to go through all of the work to take it off, might as well coat it with something more permanent.

The other bike is an 07 sv650...

The backlight is very cool... it reminds me of first gen ipods.

The sv is totally stock... nothing cool done to that one yet.

I bought them from a member on this board.  He told me they were woodcrafts, but I believe they're the older model vortex clipons.
