Title: Odd jetting?
Post by: metalforever on July 05, 2008, 03:44:29 AM
Ok, i bought my GS used which was apparantly a stock bike, it didnt appear to be modified at all.

However when i got into the carb the main jet read 120, i thought it was meant to be higher than this?

I also bought a replacement carb with 115 mains in, of course these are UK parts but surely this isnt standard?

Should i upjet the bike to what is said to be 'stock'?

125/40 is stock in canada for an 89-00 GS. However the needle profile greatly determines the mains that are right. You may have very thin needles and that may be why it worked with that main.
Cool.

Check the ID no on the RH side of the carb body. UK (E-02) reference is 01D30. 120/40 are the standard jet sizes for the UK market.
