how much different, from stock, is the riding position?
Title: Re: clubman bars
Post by: mach1 on July 06, 2008, 07:00:49 PM
about 5 or 6 inches lower than stock. or you can turn your bars upside down it about a few inches lower than that

Do you guys notice that the bars flex?
I used to have a set of clubmans like that, but I found under "spirited" riding, the bars would flex and after about a season and a half, I could see stress marks on the chrome.  :dunno_white:

I dont know what barends those are but cyclegear had them on the shelf for 12.99+tax.

As far as modding stock bars to fit the top triple you would need to cut if in half and extend the center section, clubmans dont need to be modded to fit a GS if your bike has stock fairings than risers need to be used to clear the fairings, If you bike is naked than no risers are needed for the ones from ebay.

yeah nakeds dont need them unless you dont like how low they are you can keep the risers just in case

would you have to get the holes drilled in those to get all the handlebar stuff on there?  can you get that done at the local stealership?

Yeah holes need to be drilled I cut My tabs off whe I had my clip-ons so I didnt drill these. I added some DS tape and mine are fine. I would go to the dealer fr drilling holes in your bars cause they can screw up and misalighn the holes. Just get a small drill bit and a punch and DIY.

So do you think you can flip the stock bars with the risers? I'm running clip ons, I was just wondering.

no the rise on the stock bars wont fit over the top clamp unless you cut and welde the, longer.

hey i was wondering are those tabs on the controls really necessary?

i am too lazy to drill holes lol

and was thinkin about cutting the tabs off the contorls :-p

they are kinda helpfulbut you dont need them I just cut them off not fully but enough to tighten the controls and used a little double sided tape to keep them in place on my clip-ons. for my clubmans I got lazy and just installed them(got tired of messin with the stupid left grip and just wanted to finish) the left control moves and I need to hold the housing when adding choke but thats fine

thanks buddy but i was thinking about painting the whole bike black like matte black including the frame

but then again i like that gun metal look on the rims and maybe that'll be the new color on the frame....

but thats not until winter cuz as of now i'm broke from buying a motorcycle jacket for my g/f....
