I have read that the Fuel Petcock is more or less crap on the GS and I'm now having problems with it.
On the weekend I was going to the cottage with a 3/4 full tank and the fuel selector on normal when the motor chugged and died as if out of fuel. I knew I was fine but also know of the inherant problems to I switched to Prime, waited a minute and the switched to reserve when it started up after 5 seconds of cranking.
So I'm thinking, just leave it on Reserve and watch the odomoter, right? NO
On the way home, full tank of fuel, and it konk's out while on reserve. Again, I prime it, switch to normal and it fires right up and I make it the 150 km's home with out any further incicent.
This is becoming a pain in the butt ! May I ask for advice on what part to replace it with? (please keep in mind I'm in Canada if you are suggesting a place to get any parts.)
Thanks for your help !
"Prime" is the only position that by-passes the vacuum control. Reserve has the same issues as "On".
Almost all the US bike supply places ship to Canada with no issues. Most bike shops will gladly order you any parts from the after market suppliers or Parts Canada. There is no issue to getting anything you want in Canada. Just don't get it shipped UPS if you can avoid it. They have stupidly high brokerage fees. FedEx, Purolator, or mail works much better
Canada is better in some respects...Victory circle in Vaughn ot North York has some sweet pingel stuff available right off the counter. They also has S&B filters right on the shelf. Never have I seen that in US.
Cool.

My bike did the same thing on Sunday, and I checked the archives - SEVERAL people on the list have had this problem. You can do a search and read about other peoples ideas to solve the problem, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer.
