So last night I was awaken by a burning feeling in my eyes. I get up and try to open them but they wont open I go to the bathroom and flush them with water and rinse them off and they open a little but barley. I go to the mirror and lift them open and they a bloodred and the little light I had in hurt(the same feelong when I scratched my cornia) so I go get some ice and rub it on my eye lid and now I can open them but everything hurts, even my fan hurts my eyes. So I go to lay back down and cant keep them closed cause of the burning and everytime I open and close them it feels as they are both scrathed. after taking a few pills I fall asleep and awake no problems. What the hell was that. I started to feel something just before falling asleep. I though it was the tig welding My welder was welding something for me and he asked me to check it and when I looked down his nozzle whent off again in my face.
Flash burns......http://www.wcwelding.com/welding-flash-burns.html
Go see a doctor before it gets serious.
Sounds about right... basically it burns your eyes same as the sun burns your skin.
Not a pleasant feeling.

you can get your doctor to prescribe drops that will ease the pain
Ahh, yeah, you got flashed.
Wear a set of shade 2 goggles. I always wear shade 1 or 2 glass in goggles under my helmet. They're like looking though very dark sunglasses. It will reduce the effects of an accidental flash. ;)
Tell your welder to go back to school. :nono:
I have no insurance. Today they felt fine vision was good no bluryness but they did kinda feel warm and to top it off I got a piece of metal in my eyes(rinsed it out with our eye was). When Im doing the welding I use my auto darkening but I dont use the TIG welder the other guy does, I was holding up a front axle and leaf springs so he can tachweld the shackle bracket. I saw he was done so I took a look to see if all was straight and boom I looked directly at the flash from the tig and was about 12inches away. If I feel fine should I just leave it alone and let it self heal. I have some dropes from the eye doctor from when I scrathed my cornia.
Mach, the scratchy feeling and or headache usually go away in a day or two.
If you don't want to see a doctor, keep a close tab on thigns. If it persists, gets worse, you get spots, blank areas, or any vision problems see a doctor!
Keep a clean neodynium magnet in a clean container in your toolbox for steel in your eyes. ;)
ya aint welding flash fun? [/sarcasm}
another reason for universal health care. it is all about the med conglomerates making huge profits and passing some of it on to politician in way of taxes and contributions. only in America does one have to choose between food and health care. greatest country in the world huh.....me thinks not

Frankie, if you dont like it you have the choice to leave it. Dont let the border gate hit you on the way out. :nono:
Mach, hope your eyes feel better. Be careful and mindful, it would suck for something serious to happen to your eyes...you'd probably miss them.
Ah, and it begins...this and that about America sucks...well then leave if you don't like it. Every country has its pros and cons. It could always be worse.
the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. ;) mach, best of luck with your eyes. i've got terrible hearing(have hearing aids now) and i gotta tell ya, i'd rather be deaf than blind any day. :thumb:
