Title: newer carb on older bike
Post by: bajabound on July 10, 2008, 01:33:19 PM
What would it take to put a 2003+ carb on a 2000 GS - probably not a drop in replacement, but has anybody tried it?

What do the wires on the 2003+ carb hook up to?

I don't think it would be hard to make it work.Remove the emissions crap, plug the ports with vacuum caps, and remove the throttle position sensor. The wires are for the throttle position sensor and plug into the wiring harness for the computer controlled ignition.04+ got the computerized ignition.

Right on - I had a feeling that the wires were a TPS, but it's good to confirm..

What do you mean by the emissions crap??

Any thing that doesn't run to the tank or vent the carbs is usually emissions related junk that can cause problems.
