Title: EMERGENCY!!!!! URGENT!!!!! My rear Brake doesn't work
Post by: krypto35 on July 13, 2008, 08:54:58 AM
Not a GS post - but I am looking for ANY help I can get on my BMW R 100 RS

- I was JUST outside bleeding my brakes on my BMW because I have a cross country ride coming up this week --- and my rear brake no longer works!   PLEASE HELP

Bike has ABS.  Was bleeding brake just like you would any other time (pumping rear brake with my hand while bleeding) and the pedal froze up and no longer actuates the caliper.  PLEASE HELP -- Call me ASAP if you have any advice - 484-300-2683

BMW owning friends have told me in the past that certain ABS equipped bikes need to be bled using the BMW MoDiTec diagnostic tool. Seems there are a number of solenoid operated valves within the system that need to be opened/closed as part of the process and the only way to do this is via the MoDiTec. I cant confirm this as fact though and there may be a way around it.........Your best chance of finding an answer is in the BMW forums
