Post by: Dreamer_85 on July 13, 2008, 08:56:13 PM
1992....i bought some jet from dyno jet stage one and stage three i put the smaller set of stage three cause there are two different ones for stock and moded exhaust but the jets i put in are dj128 and it will run when cold but when it gets warm it dies and i cant start it after that. and i tryed adjusting the fuel air mix to about 2 1/2 turns out but i cant seem to figure it out... and i also have uni pods and stock exhaust... can someone please help me?

DJ kits aren't worth it.  I had a DJ kit that was installed by the previous owner.  I've tried to make mine work and I've got it pretty good, but you'd have better luck just getting some mikuni jets for a couple of bucks each and doing it that way.  Right now I have 140 mains, DJ needle with clip on the 3rd slot, 40 pilots, don't remember # of turns out, with lunchbox, and custom free flowing exhaust.  It works, but not very well.  The taper of the needle is what screws everything up.  My set up would be equivalent to a 150 main with stock needle.  I just have a overly rich spot because of the needle, so I have to modify my wrist twist, or It'll bog.

I don't know specifically what causes the bike to die when it gets warm.  Check the wiki, it'll probably have some info on that.  Good luck.  Hope you get things worked out.

DYNO JET KITS ARE CRAP!They are extremely hard to set up and tune.I got standard off the shelf Mikuni jets. With the set up you posted I would do 40/135/1 washer under the stock needles and 2.5 to 3 turns on the mix.Remember this is just a close jetting and will require a little tuning.

Well generally, as the bike warms up, the mixture gets richer. So it could be that you are rich when cold, and too rich when warm. But I would first check the fuel delivery system.

Did you try running it in prime?? Could it be you accidentally mess the floatheight??

Leave the needles as they are but add a #4 washer between the plastic spacer and the clip on the needle.

If he has DJ needles, then it's a lot different than stock needles.  If you still have them, put the stock needles back in, and space them with the #4 washers.  If you insist on keeping the DJ needle in, then you can just move the clip.  (The DJ needle creates flat spots and rich spots, and will make more trouble for you in the future.  The stock needle is a nice and even taper.)

Stock jetting is 30/122.5 for US bikes.

That would be good for a stock exhaust, airfilter,or K&N stock replacement with restrictor.

US bikes have 37.5 pilots and 122.5 mains.
I recomend 40/125 1 washer and 3 turns for a stock bike. Or uni and aftermarket pipe.
K&N with restrictor I'd still go 127.5, it does let it a bit more air than stock or uni really. Especially if you have a pipe.
Cool.

Damn it!!!!That's why one set of carbs I had wouldn't run worth a crap.It was jetted 30/122.5.I thought they were jet to stock specs.Could this have been some ones attempt at restricting power for an inexperienced rider?  :dunno_white:
