Title: 1995 GS500E with problems?
Post by: Chrisonfire on July 13, 2008, 09:38:13 PM
Hey all, new to the forum.

I am currently looking into getting a 1995 GS500E and I need some light shed upon this deal.

The seller states that he bought the bike a year and half ago with a siezed engine. He says he replaced the rings and pistons and it just needs a tune-up.

After emailing him he says its starts fine, but runs rough. I know its tough to say, but is buying a bike that had a siezed engine a good idea, or will i just be looking at more and more problems after doing the tune-up.

Also what are some of the things I look for when I go out to look at the bike this week. (This is going to be my first motorcycle)

Oh and the odometer reads 7564 miles. So its a low mileage bike.

Thanks,

Chris C.

Sounds sketchy :(

I'd only buy it if the rest of the bike was in good shape and the price was right.

Yeah the rest of the bike (from the pictures) is in good shape. And the asking price isn't one to be super excited about, or at least so I think at $1000. But I will be able to talk him down because Im not planning on paying more the $800 for it.
