Title: How much should i expect to pay.
Post by: Bluehaze on July 15, 2008, 02:13:51 PM
I am approaching my 600 mile initial service.  I ask the service  :2guns: guy how much it would cost me if they do the initial service he stated $210 if without valve replacement. If valve replacement $400.   Valve replacement? I thought you were just supposed to check height or something..

Anyways.. i know i have to get it done..just seeing what you guys think i need to be knowledgeable for and what to check after they do it to ensure it was done properly.

What questions should i be asking them to ensure i am getting a good service... Things to look for and such

Thanks..

Bring it to my house and I will do it for under $100 ... especially if you bring beer ... I know I know, I waste time drinking beer, but I also count badly when I drink ... so it pays off ... totally.
Cool.

Do it yourself, or find a helpful hand in your neck of the woods and pay them to do it. You'd have better service form a GStwinner and learn more than you will if you were just paying the stealer.

If they said "valve replacement" find another dealer to take it to

Depending on the Hourly rate $175-225 is about right. But if they try and tell you you need valves replaced, call your local suzuki district office

And as far as you saying "I know I have to get it done"In reality.. you dont. You can check over most first service things yourself, and valves at first service will 99.9999 % not need adjusted  :thumb:

Does it inavalidate the warranty if the initial 600 mile "Shakedown" service is not carried out by a Suzuki dealer.

not really i use a service  form which would work as proof that service was performed by a trained professional ( which i am,  :cookoo:  ) but am certified to do warranty repairs and such on suz HD bmw and heh tempted to go get my duc cert, btu not much need for it around here BUT jsut document that the service was done. in DETAIL. ie oil change, valve clearance check, ( list numbers  here.) etc etc etc
