Title: Battery acid on exh. pipe
Post by: Paulcet on July 19, 2008, 05:42:15 PM
I rode through a little rain a couple of days this week, and thought I had some road grime on my exhaust pipe.  Upon further inspection, I find that it is battery acid, from the battery vent hose.  See pic:

Crap!  On my nice black pipe!  Those brown spots are rust.  Paint gone.

Couple questions:  Is it normal to have battery juice run down the tube in the normal course of operation?  If it is normal, is there a problem routing the tube so this stuff drops in front of the rear tire?  Any other suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

I would just reroute the drain so it is exiting under the bike instead of to the side. Also i noticed your location, is that statesboro , ga. If so you might notice a red gs500 with the same head lights running around!

yeah, going to try to get in under, without the stuff flying back to the brake area.

I am in Statesboro, GA.  I'll keep an eye peeled for you.  Where do you usually ride?
