The best modification if your bike is more than 5 years old ?
Tires ?
Seat ?
Better lid ?
Nope.
A new clutch cable. Simple as that. It's like buying a new bike but paying $11 + shipping. I kid you not.
Ohhhhh, do tell more!
Is a new clutch cable to gearing what progressive springs are to the front suspension? :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:
no, it's more like what higher octane is to gear ratios. :icon_lol:

actually, it's the difference between painful wrist cramps and feeling no pain.
this, after spending 45 minutes in stop/go creeping traffic on steep grades. the gs isn't quite smooth enough of an engine to idle @ 5 mph on an incline, and this means lots of clutch use. i'm not complaining, i have TURNS and HILLS to enjoy in b'ham now as opposed to the boring flatness of florida ;)
Best deal I've got for 11.00 bucks in the last five years is some pictures of someones wife off this board..... :icon_mrgreen:
I am very partial to pipe and jetting myself. For its ease and cost IMHO nothing comes close.
Rear shock is a very very close second - again very easy. The hardest part is waiting for the mailman ...
Wider rear wheel possibly third - easy again.
Gel/corbin seats 4th - Easy, but pushing $200 makes for a harder item to get done, and stock seat aint too bad IMHO.
Many other mods are good bang for the $$, sealed battery, case guards, buddha bars (though they have nearly gotten impossible to get these days) 89 clip on's ... many more
The general idea is, when you replace somehting that is broken or simply worn out, just buy the best replacements for it.
Cool.
Buddha.
MY 89 clip-on's and Buell headlight

Where u got that clutch cable ?
my $15 gixxer exhaust :thumb:
OHGOOD,
When did you change from Tampa to Birmingham? Sorry off topic!
My bike is approaching that. But, it only has 8,000 on it. If I have full warranty on it is it something my stealership would have to replace if it is going? Other wise later on if need be I can scrape up the money for this fix!

Hope your son is doing well!
Clutch cable and almost the whole clutch itself is a wear item. You'd have a hard time getting dealers to change either of those.
Clutch cable is easy to change, I tie a shoe string to the end of it, and pull it through, new one goes back tied to the string and pulled through with it.
Cool.
Buddha.
Best mod ever:
Unbolt and remove previous owner.
Self-install.
