This is a great example of how little the public knows about the bikes we love. It speaks for it's self, let me know way you think:

Yet another retarded article standing on no real legs of integrity. Basic demographics of riders, and ridiculous statements of things like bikes costing between 1 and 5 thousand dollars, and gas at 4 dollars a gallon :flipoff: I can't stand the bad-ass harley guys who dart in and out of traffic like its nothing but apparently thats all right because thats not gonna harm anyone. I just hate stupid writers with an agenda against sport bikes.
checking craigslist in my area, 90% of the bikes for sale are more than 5 grand... if bikes only cost up 5 g's in Aiken county, it might be worth me shipping one up!
I DO agree with the title of the article .."Sport bike riders often go too fast"... i often think about that when I'm passing cars on teh highway 8)
That article was terrible. Poorly researched and filled with assumptions.
I would be willing to bet that the increase in motorcycle deaths is attributed much more to just the increase in motorcycles on the road. I'd like to see a percentage of deaths vs. the number of motorcycle owners. I bet the number wouldn't change much over that time frame. I'd also like to see fatal accidents vs. types of bikes.
I'd like to see what at fault/not at fault/single vehicle accident numbers
i don't think the article was inflammatory, the title is fair. the only thing is the ass buell dealer wearing a german nazi helmet and no other protective gear. buell = HD = duck heads
The title is valid to an extent...but too narrow in scope. The real problem is ALL recklessness when driving no matter what you are riding or driving. People are in too much of a hurry in general and have too many distractions when driving. We ALL really need to realize the risks associated with motor vehicles and respect each other out there.
And why are so many people so against helmets? I really cannot understand that movement. It's your prerogative to not wear a helmet but I know of many accidents including my best friend's dad which doctors have said a crash would have been entirely different if a helmet was worn.
Just my $.02
Stay safe folks :thumb:
I think this article has ageist overtones. I'm 19 and I have never been in an accident other than low-speed falls or drops due to uneven ground in parking lots (a local lot near the lake is situated on such a steep slope that I'm amazed my kickstand hasn't given way more than once). I always wear a helmet, use turn the blinkers, and I don't even speed. Much, anyhow.
I see a lot of motorcyclists who ride cruisers or even scooters (hell, even bicycles), and who are in their 40's and 50's, (or older) who still ride as if they're immortal. Now maybe they picked that up when they were my age, but apparently they've been lucky enough to not have a painful learning experience in all those decades. And you can get into just as much trouble on a $500 million cruiser as a $1K 3rd-hand 500cc.

Not neccesarrily frankie, several of the local Buell owners are avid sport riders and members of our local forum. These guys aren't afraid of getting out there and wearing proper gear and doing some serious riding. I almost bought a new firebolt in 06 but the deal on my 954 was just good enough to get me to buy it used from another forum member.
I sent the guy an e-mail telling him about the inaccuracies in his story and asked him to at least talk to someone from each crowd in the future. I'm tired of this stupid shaZam!. Since when did the Hells angels become the good guys? stoopid f%$kers. You all should write the guy and Buddha Loves You him out too. His e-mail: tim.cox@augustachronicle.com
