Title: I dropped her today...
Post by: bucks1605 on July 24, 2008, 07:19:34 PM
No, not my bike, my helmet. I sat it on the seat (bad idea) and went to lock the forks, the sudden movement knocked it right off. My shield got some scuff marks from the blacktop and I was wondering how I should go about removing the marks. I tried scratching them off with my finger a little, just wondering if there is a better way.

Here's a pic of the damaged visor.

Meguire's (sp?) mirror glaze. Two step plastic polishing system.

Looks like you have skidmarks on your bedsheets

Oh, about the visor... Well, try some vinegar. It's a very good cleaner for many things. Use a very fine cloth that wont scratch the visor.

WD-40 will remove the "skid marks" and then mild detergent/water will remove the WD-40.  If surface scratched, get a new visor.

Hell, ride with the marks on there and tell all the ladies about how you laid it down @ 150mph, and then went off for a cup of tea.   ;)

I might go down because of those marks, they're distracting!

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll try the WD-40 or vinegar first since I have them both.

If its scratched you will never get it perfect again no matter what you do or use.......buy a new visor and save yourself the time and effort.
