Title: Katana rear wheel question
Post by: mikeraxom on July 25, 2008, 06:21:40 PM
I just received a rear wheel  from a 2000 Katana to install on my 07 gs500. Got the wheel, bearings , rotor and a new Shinko 160 radial on ebay for $140.00. I didn't think it was to bad of a deal.My question is, on the wheel there is a hole on the hub in between each spoke, each one is about 1" in diameter, are these supposed to be open or are there inserts that I need to find and install in them? Thanks for any help you guys can give me. This site has been a great source of information.

The holes drain water from inside the spokes and help with weight reduction.I have Shinko 160-60 on the rear of my bike using a Bandit600 wheel. The chain will rub even if you space the sprocket away from the carrier. If you space the sprocket out and it doesn't contact the center hub,the sprocket bolts will eventually break.
