2006 gs500f sat for a yr changed oil,plugs,battery,drained fueltank got it started ran for 30-45 min cut it off and tried to restart click,click,clickclick
charged batery lights,horn work could it be starter
If you're sure the battery is good (check voltage while you're trying the starter?) it could be that the motor is seized, the starter has died, the starter clutch is jammed, the starter solenoid contacts are dirty (the switches are OK and the solenoid is moving if you can hear the clicking). Eliminate the seized motor by pushing it in 6th gear to see if the motor turns, then work through the rest. Or just use the kickstart :cheers:
Sounds like battery to me. Give it a good charge. If it has sat discharged for a while the battery could have sulfated and need replacing. Most places that sell batteries will be able to test its condition for you for free.
That happened to me this morning over at my friends house. I was about to ride home and would just try to turn over and then click-click-click-click-click ...I took the battery out and walked over to Pep-boys and bought a new batter ($40), plugged her in and she started right up.. Make sure you have some vinegar around when you put the acid in the battery, my brother was cutting off the top while saying, "you gotta be careful with this cuz.." and then SPLAT! the acid shot right up and into his mouth -- It couldnt have been a more perfect shot if it was done on purpose

check the acid levels in your battery. Chances are some evaporated. Fill it up and give it a good charge.
Your battery is flat, could be shagged, needs load testing to be sure. Check fluid levels and give it a good charge, if you are very lucky it will have survived .........but I wouldnt bet my mortgage on it!
You press the go button, solenoid pulls in with a click, starter motor energises and draws current from the battery, because its flat there is not enough charge in the battery to spin the motor and hold the solenoid in at the same time, result is the solenoid drops out with a click and disconnects motor from battery. Then, because there is suddenly current available, the solenoid pulls in with a click and the motor energises..........and the cycle starts again!

same happened to mine... battery was just old and wouldn't hold a proper charge.
a good opportunity to practice your bump starts. put it in 2nd and find a slight decline or flat spot. run with bike, throw your leg over then pop the clutch.... if you can bump start it, ride it above 3k rpms for a bit. see if the battery will charge. if it won't the battery is bad or your charging system is bad. if you can't give it a bump start, well thats a whole other problem.
