So I installed mine yesterday and rode her today for the first time in months and HOLY f%$k cruising at 30 in first I crack open the throttle and up comes the front and not just a pop but it gets up and stays while the bike still accels. i figure ok lucky so later that day Im coming home and im in second I shift into third release the clutch then engage and rev and up it comes again. my thougts great power band range IMHO better than 15 and 14t, top speed was 123 indicated, power ups in 1st gear and clutch ups in 3rd. I love it
No way! Sounds like a lot more jump!
I put a 15T sprocket on and it doesn't seem too different. Havent had the chance to really beat on her though, living near chitcago sucks.
13's getting abit tight.
I'd like to try it but spend a little too much time on the interstate.
Where did you pick it up at. I am looking to get mine to pull up without popping the clutch. I just got it jetted piped k&n and dyno tuned which made a big diffrence but its not quite there and I have been looking for new sprockets just havent found the right ones yet. does ne1 know how many teeth are on the stock sprocket the lowest I have found aftermarket for the rear is 39?
At the risk of helping you dump your bike, you want to go UP in the rear if you are looking for more get-up-and-go (...over on your back if you are a bit too squidly).
The stock rear is a 39T. The stock front is a 16T. Going up in the rear is equivalent to going down in front - going down in front and up in the rear is equivalent to going more on either end alone. Obviously the front alone is cheaper, but too small causes more chain wear.
A lower-count rear would be of more interest to those of use looking for better milage and lower revs on the highway, but I have not seen anything lower than 39, and don't see any references to anything lower than 39 on this forum. There are 17 and 18 front sprockets for the 94-2008 bikes (with shoulder - fat center) on the sprocket - 16T is as high as it seems to go for the plain sprocket used on 89-93.

I call BS at the bolded part. No way that's happening with a 13T.
depends on the rider and his bike. mine is adjusted properly maybe the chain is tighter than whats called for but thats fine with me. you can call what ever you want Im having fun riding on one wheel without having to work too hard.

go out toward warrenville, ( or into dupage county), some more secluded spots out that way

Where in Chicago? If you are in the city, take Sheridan road North on the weekend in the morning when nobody is around and attack the twisties. I will definately put a :) on your face.

I have to agree with the BS unless you're redlining it, I don't see how you're cruising at 30 with a 13t front....but who knows.

30 mph in 1st with a 13t ? Interesting. Maybe I need to pull out the spreadsheet for gear calculations...
Nah, it's 3:52am and I just don't think my 15t will do that without redlining. Riding in 1,2 or 3rd that close to redline is not something I'd normally do, especially if the gear ratio what changed so much to allow pop ups in 3rd. Scarey !
Stock GS redlines at 48 mph in 1st gear so 13/16 x 48 = 39 mph redline with 13T. Would be 30/39 x 11000 = 8460 rpm approx at 30 mph with 13T, right on top of the stock HP curve.

specs and measurments. stock this its that. my bike does what I want it to, if you wanna beleave me or not thats fine I have no reason to lie. I have also been told my top speed hitting trdline with tthe 13t would be around 80 or 90 but i have done 100. jotting stuff down on paper or typing in numbers aint the same as doing it.

1) nah, no accusations it's cool, just surprising
2) actually it is ! the math is what makes engineering so darned cool.
I was roughing out the circumference difference of a 16T vs a 13T, seemed like a huge difference at first, but then again it was 3am.
do you think it will stretch the chain faster because of the additional torque on it ? i suppose the amount of torque the engine produces hasn't changed, but it's changed, but you get the idea.
enjoy it, just don't loop it ! :D
ride on !
have fun mate!
I'd like to try it but I love my plastics
cheers
Kamel
where did you say you got it?
how much did it run?
and did you have to get a shorter chain?
sounds fun..getting a little bored and don't want to clutch mine up, although I can stand on the back pegs and play with the throttle in 1st and bring it up for a quick up and down but no carry.
I got it from all from bike bandit.com the sprocket was 12 or 13 buck. the chain is not new so I forget.

cruising at 30 in first has nothing to do with the chain being adjusted properly. There's absolutely no reason to be doing 30 in first with a 13T sprocket while "cruising". You're talking like almost 9000 rpms...that's not cruise range.
And I'll save you the lecture on keeping it safe, because you already know what I'm gonna say... so I'll just save us that flame war. O0
