Next week the govts of Norway, Denmark & Sweden will be apologising for what the Vikings did.
The British govt will apologise for everthing that has gone wrong in the world.
The Italian will apologise for the exploits of the Romans.
Germany for the Huns, Goths and Visigoths.
France will apologise for nothing whatsoever.
Belgium will apologise for anything that has been left out or not thought of.
Bulgaria and Croatia will apologise for raiding Venetian shipping for loot and slaves.

THIS IS BUNKUM.

You can't apologise for history, regret some parts perhaps and even say so but you cant judge the actions of the past by todays moral standards.

The British did some terrible things in the day of Indian Empire, a few good things too, do the present day Indians/Pakistanis/Sri-Lankans/Bangladeshis keep on about it - No they don't they just get on with trying to get on and rapidly expanding their economies.

We need to grow up, live with our Histories, warts'n'all, accept them as part of making us whatever we have become today and get on with our lives.

I could accept an official apology to those who were alive before desegregation and were affected by Jim Crowe laws. But to apologize for slavery that honkey's smokin crack tryin to stay in office where he is a white minority an a district with a huge black population and a black challenger on the ballot this election year!

The Buddha Loves You is just a meddlesome trouble maker sticking her nose in any activist activity that strikes her fancy and appears politically correct.

Which of our living law makers fought against emancipation? The answer is zero.

How many freed slaves are alive today? the answer is zero.

India is one of those weird countries. I have never heard that the british did this or that even in the 70's when I grew up. We used to have things even named after british administrators and still had names that were given by the brits. Like Conrad Smith road or wall-Tax road.
Call it ahimsa, call it short memory, call it lazy ... which one - maybe the new few years will tell.
Cool.

what a load of crap...this generation, the last , the one before that and all to come had nothing to do with slavery so why the hell should be apologize.   as an Irish catholic maybe i should get an apology for all that my ancestors went through.  so called african americans are WAY better off than if they stayed in africa so shut up.

Is it just me, or did the quote, "He has sought to reach out to his black constituents, and early in his term showed interest in joining the Congressional Black Caucus until learning that was against caucus rules", stick out like a sore thumb.

First off, if there happened to be a "Congressional White Caucus", in which a Black man tried to join, but learned that it was against the rules, what kind of crap would arise from that?  People just need to get over the past, and stop trying to get 'reparations' (free money) for something that they didn't even experience.  Just look at the US today.  If any 'Minority' wants to make something of themselves, there's nothing stopping them.  It just seems like there are too many that are blaming something on someone cause they're lazy and want free money (reparations).

Sorry for my rant.

I agree, this is nothing more than political blackmail. One guy wants votes, certain parties want free money.

Next thing ya know people working in call centres will be calling for the country to pay damages to them for all the abuse they get from COLD CALLING people after BUYING their contact details off someone, it happens, its your job, get on with it or do something else.

Same with this, its your history, you can't change it, so stop dragging it out.
