Pretty nice flogging occured on the 126 in Ventura. :icon_lol:I got the hole shot on a Ducati, had him by two lengths! Then, as I shifted into 6th about 98MPH the piston siezed, and scattered the whole bottom end. :o
here are the durty details:

Piston sheared from the wrist pin hole down.

Crank rod in half and ball burnish by the flywheels.

Four Piece Crank Rods?

The spigot is where the piston galled, siezed, and became one with the cylinder, although rather briefly I assume.

the gutted, disembowled whore. NEXT?
:o
Ignoring the bike for a moment, I'm glad you made it out alright.
Definitely glad you made it out okay. What was it like when it seized? Like a Boom and then suddenly locking the rear brake or a Boom and then no power? Along with the oil & parts leaving the bike of their own accord.
Tony
Holy cow! :o :o
Glad you didn't get scattered along with the bike bits on 126! :icon_mrgreen:
But what're you doing racing on a public road? :icon_rolleyes:
So, what kind of Ducati was it? Short of an old 350 scrambler, I seriously doubt he knew he was in a race. My lil' ol' 2v will rip the cotter pins out of a GS any day.
I would say that piston was at TDC :o

Yes it seems to have ripped the wrist pins out of this GS.
However sometimes you can flog a smaller bike much harder than a duc. There was this guy on a 748 that worked with me, he always was so sedentary, running steady speeds and generally acting like he was on what can best be called fragile equipment. I asked him and he said they swapped the motor under warranty due to some or other, then he has been taking it easy on it since its out of warranty. He also has a old nighthawk 450 that he does flog.
Cool.
Buddha.
ouch, that is some carnage.
Ducati pilot was probably hangin back to see if you were going to blow it.
Was it a Ducati 100??

You redline it inadvertently ???
