Title: Where to get Blue gauge bulbs 3.4watt???
Post by: KevinBlank on July 31, 2008, 05:13:07 PM
Id like to swap out the stock white bulbs in the guages for blue ones, but i cant seem to find any of the stock bulbs to compare the new ones i wana get. Anyone know where i can get stock bulbs or aftermarket blue ones from?

Ive heard of people using LEDs, but id rather stick with bulbs for now, im not deperate enough yet lol.

Thanks

Why do you think you need to be desperate to use LED's?

They save on power consumption and as far as I can tell, have no downsides.  And they look GREAT!

Mine look great, and were only a few bucks each.  I used the 5 LED ones listed in the wiki. HERE> http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/LEDIndicators (http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/LEDIndicators)

These are direct fit and cause no issued.  Issues come when you try to use them in the turn signal circuits.

Cheers!

I didnt realize LEDs were i direct fit!... so all i need is a typical 194 style wedge LED??? those are a direct plug and play?

Absolutely.  Direct plug & play.  The only time you would have issues is if yuo try using them in the turnsignals themselves (not enough load for flasher) or in the turn signal indicator light (yellow light on cluster) because a diode (led is a diode) will only allow current to flow one direction, and because of the design of the GS t/s circuit, it needs to be able to flow either way, which a regular bulb is good at.

Have fun!
