So I recently cleaned out my carbs and messed with new Orings, float height, etc. and my '93 GS was running great.
After returning froma 3 week vacation, i decided to take a ride and could smell gas about 5 minutes into the ride. I pulled over and saw some gas running down the fuel line the connects to the bottom "T" connector of the carbs. Once I took a closer look, the gas only leaks when the bike is running, and it originally appeared to be coming out of the fuel line leading up into the carbs, (loose connection, cracked hose, etc.)
So I replaced the fuel line, got new clamps, and everything looked snug. But when i started it up again, the gas leaked right up where the T is, but now I'm pretty sure it isn't the fuel line connection. I can see gas above where the connnection is.
Should I replace the "T" connection on the carbs? What else could cause this?
Any input would be much apprecriated

I had a float height problem before, but there isn't any fuel coming out of the overflow hose, or back into the air box.
I wasn't aware that fuel could come back out of the T if the floats were stuck or too high.
I'll check the floats and see if that's the problem.
sounds like you need to check it set on prime position because when its set to the on position it will only pump fuel when the engine is running via vac hose... anyway try that and sorce back the leak might be small crack on the inline filter or some other simple thing but prolly not a float issue :cheers:
It's not leaking at the filter.
From what I can tell it's coming out right above where the fuel line connects to the T connection. Almost like it's coming out of the carbs where the T attaches and then it runs down the hose. I'll try it in PRI without the bike running, but I'm not sure. When I replaced the fuel line nothing leaked out of the carbs. Only when the bike ran and i had the hose connected.
Not sure, but i don't think float height is the problem.
So I checked it on PRI and it leaks at the same spot, but it's really hard to tell where exactly it's leaking from. The only confusing thing is that when I had the fuel line off, the T doesn't leak, so i guess it has to be my fuel line, but it appears to be on and clamped very tight.
I don't know. Is the T of the carbs a pretty easy thing to replace?

Oh, this is so damn common on keiheins its almost a feature. Honda 650/700 nighthawk's 83-85, kawi eliminators 85-87 etc etc constantly give up just at this spot. The 1-2 cyl and the 3-4 straight ones also die often and die spectacularly, just like a geyser ... old faithful right. Yea that.
GS carbs are very very immune to this (I thought). They have like a rubber sleeve on top of the plastic T fitting. if it is one of the damn O ring things, I have no clue where to get one. maybe I'll dig into my katana carb pile ... or some other stuff (like my GS pile with busted pilot jet fitting) and get one out for you.

So after watching the leak very slowly and very well lit, it's definitely coming out of the "sides" of the T connector, not the fuel line connection. Well, guess having a new fuel line couldn't hurt.
But now I don't know what to do.
Buddha...so there is some sort of sleeve, or O-rings within the two "sides" of the T that lead into each carb. And you think that this is broken, or obviously not doing its job. I'm wondering if I got carb cleaner in there while I was cleaning and that ate it away. But with lots of gas additive fuel cleaners I would think that this would happen a lot.
So...if it is the sleeve.O-rings, should i take her the carbs to a dealer and see what they could do? How hard is it to replace that sleeve? I didn't take that apart when I cleaned my carbs, so I'm just curious.
Also, the T connector sits heigher than the correct float/fuel height within the carbs, otherwise if my floats were stuck or set too high that would cause gas to leak out when the fuel line wasn't connected. That was bothering me before because nothing leaked out when i took the old fuel line off, but if I'm correct about the positioning and proper float height within the carbs then that makes sense.

I replaced the sleeve seals on the T connector, and NO LEAK! :icon_mrgreen:
