I always sit in the preferred watching position and then hold my head comfortably with my eyes closed.  Open your eyes and that's where your TV should be.  It does look funny hanging on the wall that low.  Put it on a stand on a table.

I once had my TV in  large bookshelf unit.  The only opening large enough was up fairly high.  It was a very uncomfortable thing to watch TV.  I now have an HD and placed it lower and like it much better.

My son has a 52" Sharp Aquos HD and it is on a stand about as high as yours is on the wall.  Very comfortable to watch.

Yeah, I didn't agree with spending that much money on a TV, but it's his money...

Mine's a 32" -- fine for me.

When comfortablty seated in your primary viewing location the upper and lower edges should be vertically equidistant from the horizontal center line of your line of sight.

You should also be far enough back so that you can view the entire screen without having to shift your focus from left to right to avoid eye strain and fatigue.

We sit about 10 feet back from our 42" Plasma with the center of the screen at our head height and it's perfect

Doesn't look too bad to me, but I'd go up about a foot or two if it were me.  I prefer to have my television higher than lower especially if you're doing a surround sound setup which it looks like you are.  I prefer my center channel to be underneath the television than above it.  Looks like you're quite a musician as well.  Is it a studio type setup or whats up with the mics and other things around??

Cancel the cable guy.

If you can take it back for a refund, do that - otherwise put it on craigslist.

...have much more money and time for riding and (evidently) making music. Plus, your brain won't rot!

the tv (bottom edge) is actually 3 feet off the ground in the picture but it doesnt look that high because of the picture. I raised it about 6 inches and its perfect now and centered with that painting. I am a music producer.

i have my two hdtvs hooked up to hdr boxes and my ps3 in the living room.   having youtube and others on my big tv rocks.  as for 1080 i or p it does not matter because most everything is still 720.
