Title: Tail Mods
Post by: on2Wh33lz on August 04, 2008, 09:52:00 AM
I'm sure I'm not the 1st to hate the huge plastic fender that has the license plate and signal lights attached. I want to shave that thing off. Or remove it completely. How do I do that and keep the signal lights? or is there a mod for that? Also where i can find one of those kits to make the rear taillight flash when you stop?  Any advice would help

I have a 06 GS500F

Oh no, you are the first, and we have a strict penalty here for thinking along the lines of cutting stuff off.
OK how would you feel if someone here wanted to cut some stuff off you ... huh.
OK That good enough for ya ... that fender gets sliced 100 ways form sunday everyday, Its a POS people hate.
Oh yea, welcome.
Cool.

Nice.

Hack away!  There's even a writeup in the Wiki about it!  Around here they call it the Fenderectomy, and it is usually followed shortly by the Reflectorotomy.

Here is what I did to mine.

Lockhart Phillips makes the taillights that I am using.  They attach to the license plate.

Here is the link to how I did mine.

Hello!
You might also, according to your taste, perform a partial fenderectomy if you don't wanna hack the mudflap off altogether.
I also thought about a total fenderectomy, but then I backed off 'cause I think the tail would be kinda "empty" (the GS's skinny rear tyre won't help much, as well as the huge plate in my case :icon_mrgreen:)
As a suggestion, here's how I did mine:
