Basically scrapped my left side fairing and realized it be just as much for a new fairing then it would be for a headlight and bracket.
how much would i get for these:
like new RH fairing (06 silver)
like new mirrors( just payed 26 bucks for a new one)
top fairing with slight road rash( not noticeable since both the paint and rash is black)
headlight
flush mounts
wondering how much i could save if i convert it lol
any recommendations on dual or single headlight?
Single .vs. dual is often also large reflector .vs. small, and I certainly think that large reflector works better. I'd put on a 12-inch diameter light if they were commonly available.
But most treat it purely as style thing (who cares if I can see - it's about looking good!), and if it's a style thing, the question is what is your style?
Had one example of using the F headlight on a naked here recently.
I went naked after a crash and regretted it ever since and am faired again and get more complaments and it looks better
well mach, I've seen pictures of you and I can understand why you didn't get very many compliments while naked....... ;) :icon_razz:
ive been much happier with mine ever since ive went naked. i just like the way riding feels with all the wind in your face, you really gotta hang on if you go anywhere over 85 haha

I converted my F to an E for very little money (not because it was damaged, just out of preference).
I got my twin headlight (http://www.streetfighterstore.co.uk/dominator_h4_headlights_chrome/847) from streetfighterstore.co.uk. You can get it in black or chrome (both metal). From time to time they have them on special, but even at full rate its only ~$70 plus some postage. They include wiring-loom, plugs and bulbs.
The brackets I picked up from the wrecker's yard for $15. They needed putty, a sand and some rattle can to bring them back to like the day they left the factory.
A pair of mirrors (new) set me back $30.
As for the issue of light output - they're as bright, probably brighter, than when I had the fairings on.
I went totally opposite and converted my 90 to an F. Right now I'm in the works of sourcing another headlight for a projector project. :icon_mrgreen:
When I went looking for a GS500, I specifically wanted the naked version over the F as I like the look better. The clean unspoiled looks of a naked is timeless and have unobstructed access to the front end is preferred over having to reach around or remove a fairing. I might consider adding a small flyscreen at a later date though just to protect the instrument cluster.
If you do go naked can I call dibs on the rh fairing.... dang bike slid off ramp while loading in the rain...
