Title: Cleaning up the 500.
Post by: afi1 on August 07, 2008, 04:08:20 PM
I got bored today and decided to get rid of some of the rust that was bothering me.  Everything on the GS's seems to rust really bad, and my front rotor looked like crap.  So I cleaned it up and painted it black.

I used a wire bursh on a rotory tool to strip the rust off the rotor carrier.

Then I taped off the rotor surface.

I used some hi-temp grill paint with rust stop.

Much better.

looks great man... let us know how the paint holds up down there... I've been reluctant to rattle can anything just because of durability.

I rattle caned the wheels on my Gixxer.  If you do it right, it'll look great and last too.  Just use the right paint, remember to prep, and don't rush.

I just did the same thing on my bike too. That gold had to go!
