Post by: pbureau69 on August 10, 2008, 06:42:47 AM
well I am a little confused and I am requesting some help from you guys out there.

1. trying to change the dog bpones on my bike so my wife can ride it.
2. as far as I know its OEM lengh already (continue to read on)
3. bought a set of replacement dogbones on ebay for 1.5" lower
4. measured both dogbones and they are both 7-1/4" (hole to hole centre) long.

can someone use a measuring tape on their Unmodified OEM dog bone so I can figure out

a) bike already lowered 1.5"
b) guy sent me wrong item

thanks guys

Stock dogbones are about 7 1/16" between hole center lines.  Ratio of change is around 5:1 so links that are 7 1/4" between holes should lower around 5 x 3/16 = 15/16" or 1" approx.

I put on some Pingel links using the 1st hole that measured 7 5/16 and it lowered it about 1 1/4" at the end of the swingarm which would be closer to 1" at the axle.

The Muzzys ZX6 links should lower it about 2 1/2" approx using the center hole:
