I need a new battery for my 06 GS500F. Any idea what battery prices run? Any recomendations on if I should order one online or go to dealership, auto parts store... etc.
Best bang for buck is probably auto parts store, tractor store, wally's dang mart, searz, etc. They might have to order it in.
Most likely to have what you need in stock this second is dealer.
Either of the above will normally supply you with a filled battery (you don't have to mess with acid).
The internet is a poor choice for batteries - heavy to ship, acid is haz-mat. They either ship without acid and you have to go buy some locally, or they ship with acid in a separate container, and you need to add it.
Regardless of where you get your battery, assume that they did not charge it properly, and give it a long slow charge before putting it in the bike.
Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I don't want to have to mess with the acid.
OMG... dealership wants $120.00! Are you kidding me? :dunno_white:
Carquest didn't have the battery in their system. Any other suggestions?
advance can't get them either.
I just purchased one from walmart for my SV for like $50.. and a battery tender for $20.. a motorcycle shop alone wanted $69.99 for just a battery.. I suggest Walmart.

I've bought my GS500 replacement batteries from Walmrt or a local auto parts store for about $35 and always found one in stock so far at one of those places. I use a 10L-A2 battery instead of the oem 10L-B2. They are identical except the drain hose is on the left side instead of the right. The first 2 letters on battery number identify the brand, a Yuasa battery is a YB10L-A2 or B2 for example. I forget what the first 2 letters are on the Walmart battery but it ends in 10L-A2.
The acid comes seperate and you need to put it in the battery but that's simple. It's best to fully charge the battery with a 1-2 amp charger but I've filled many and installed them and then rode around for an hour or two to complete the charge.
Found a Battary Mart who said $35 with the core. I have a trickle charger already.
