Title: Tank friction
Post by: KeLL on September 06, 2003, 12:31:20 PM
Hi There,

While working on my bike I noticed there is a glue patch on the frame where the top part of the tank rests.

What used to be there? Sometimes when riding I can hear metal rubbing together in a high pitch vibration. I am wondering if it's coming from that area.

Would anyone have a photo of the frame after the tank has been taken off?

Thanks,

Kellie

There are rubber pads that go there. You seem to be missing them.

This photo was meant to display my "auxiliary fuel tank" solution, but it may help answer your question:

The rubber spacer thingie on my bike kept falling out when I removed my tank, until I applied some new adhesive.  It hasn't budged since, and it's nice not to have to worry about it anymore.

BikeBandit should have the Suzuki part number, if you would like to order one locally.

Also, there should be 2 small, block-shaped cushions attached under either side of your fuel tank.  They rest on the frame.  If you look closely you can see the faint marks they leave, right where the frame makes its inward bend near the back of the valve cover.
