I got a Suzuki gel seat from Parts Depot and installed it... really nice ride and a big improvement. However, I'd like to reinstall my stock one, as I'm thinking of selling the bike, and I'm having difficulty getting the mounting hardware off of the gel seat. The studs are turning when I try to remove the nuts, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get ahold of them to keep them in place. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to do it?
Oh, I'll also be willing to sell the gel seat if I can get it off and the bike sells.
Thanks,
Emmett Lyman
YOu would pretty much have to take the seat apart to get at it.
You could buy new hardward or find an old seat...
I had the exact same problem when I tried to remove the hardware from my stock seat to put on my gel seat. I tried compressing the whole seat with wide woodworking clamps (to TRY to hold the bolt in place), penetrating oil, heating parts with a lighter, using ViseGrips - the works.
I eventually caved in and ante'd up the $40 to buy a whole new set of hardware. Ticked me off, but it has worked out OK. Now the gel seat goes on when my wife wants to take a spin on the back, and comes off for solo riding. If I didn't have two sets of hardware, that would have turned into a real PAIN.
I have and extra set of hardware. I could send. How much do you want for the seat?
Is there different kinds of "Gel Seats" or is there only the one?
