Title: Bike refuses to start in the morning. Battery?
Post by: phase17 on August 12, 2008, 01:45:31 PM
My 1991 GS500 has been having some issues starting in the morning. Its sort of been gradual, but now its every morning. The temperatures have been around 65-70 degrees every morning, which I really don't consider being cold. I usually try to start it until it will no longer turn over at all. If I hook up booster cables to a car that's not turned on it will start right away. Also prior to today, if I wait several hours until the temperatures warm the bike will also start. So this morning it wouldn't start and now, 5 hours later it still won't start. My guess is that I need a new battery. Does this situation sound like it would be due to an old(which it is) battery which needs to be replaced, or does it sound like something else could be the issue. Thanks for any input.

Jump fixes it - new battery most likely real fix, yes.

Take your battery to an auto-sparks shop and ask them to load test it. I will bet next months Beer-budget on it failing dismally.
