Title: Wanted Stator Rotor
Post by: wildbill on August 13, 2008, 09:10:31 AM
So last Nov i dropped my bike going around 10mph making a turn over wet trolley tracks. Anyway i dropped it on the left side and the battery is not holding a charge. I am pretty sure i shook the magnets loose off the stator rotor. I have not takin the crankcase off yet so i dont know for sure but pretty sure thats my prob. Bikebandit wants $180+ ship for a new one. Anyone have one laying around??? I really need one so my bike holds a charge.

Take the cover off and check before you assume you shook the magnets off. That's not going to happen dropping your bike at 10 MPH unless they were ready to go. If you see that the flywheel is OK, start with the basics to diagnose. How old is the battery? Are any of the cells sulfated? Are all connections clean?  It could be something very simple.

I saw that you might be getting that one for $10 from the guy selling a bunch of stuff...if so, good deal.  Like langhorne says, though, you might have a different problem.  It's worth a check of everything else, because these rotors are not easy things to swap out.  Also, i'd think that you'd hear the magnets grinding around in there if you shook them loose.

Good luck!
