Title: 2007 GS500F - Fork Spacers
Post by: SDSurfRider on August 18, 2008, 03:54:41 PM
Hello all,

I bought a slightly used 2007 GS500F last month, and I really like it so far.  But, I definitely need to have a stiffer suspension up front.  (I've already adjusted the back to '7', which is still a bit bouncy.)  I checked out the Mods page and the article referring to Fork Spacers, but that seems like it only applies to older models.  My bars aren't even attached to the bike in the same manner as those shown.

So, my question is, does somebody have a step-by-step for adding fork spacers to a newer GS500F?

Thanks!

what do you mean your bars are not the same?  all gs 90+ have the same bar 89 has clip-ons. As far as the spacer goes the ones made from teflone or pvc dont work they make you bottom out faster and reduce your full travel. if you dont wanna buy new springs for the front than you can buy some special spacers off me for 15$+sh. As far as the rear goes get a shock from a katana and the back will be perfect.

Does a katana shock bolt up?

What years etc. etc.

Many years of 600 and 750 bolt right up. 89-98 for sure.
The 98+'s still bolt up but have a remote reservoir.
The Others that bolt on but aren't the ideal - B6 - as is, and sv with minor mods.
I have for sale a remote reservoir kat - 98+ for $75 and I have a B6 for $30. Add shipping to all $.
Cool.

Will the 98-02 Katana 750 shock work?

Oh yea. Just mount the reservoir where it wont get under the wheel ... Like a charm.
Cool.
