Title: weird idle problem
Post by: 95_civic_lx on August 18, 2008, 05:02:45 PM
so i put the stock air box back on the bike and put the 40 pilot and i belive 125 main (the buddha pack) and i converted my petcock to a non vac. operated. The bike also has a hole in the exhaust.

the problem is that the bike starts right away and everything, set the idle but when i throttle it it doesnt come all the way back down, it stays along 3-4k rpms. the vac hose for the pet chicken is exposed and not caped, tried caping it but then the bike just wants to die. The drain hole in the box isnt capped either.

your running rich, the hole in the exhaust shouldnt be a huge deal depending on how big of a hole. why arent u running the vacuum line? i would put it back in and see if it changes anything. check your float heights, your air mixture screws should be set to 3 turns out on each carb, also see if your carbs are synced. let us know what happens. goodluck :thumb:

the hole is like a gash but its about the size of  golf ball if it where all together.

i set the screw to 3 turns out now and it doesnt seem to hang any more but the bike still dies if u plug the vac hose from the cab, just put about 30 miles on her and she rode great a lil flat when taking off but that might be me.

i plugged the vac hose for the carb, now when i plug the other hose (apperantly its for the canister system for the cali models) it revs up but before it would just kinda chock up and die. the screw is set 3 turns out. once i set it and it idles fine and i rip on it and it stays up. before it would sty up and it did this weird noise and it would come back down. but now it just seems to stay up.

Intake vacuum leak ??? hanging throttle cable ... missing O ring ??? sticking choke ???
Hovering idle = lean ... if all the above is OK, and floats are set right, get the air screws 1/2 more turn open.
Cool.

missing oring from where? float hight is debatable im goin to check that. im pretty sure the choke and throttle are fine.
