:dunno_white: why when people post pictures of their bikes do they blur out their license plates? why does it matter if everyone can see it, you ride on the rode where everyone sees it so whats the big deal online? just wondering what everyone thinks.
I've never quite seen the point either.
because with teh net. and a few proggy's, or close friends wiht access to more powerful programs, one can run the plate and get someones address :thumb:, ive done this a few times, and pm'ed teh info to its poster, advising them of this risk.

+1, thats why i block mine out. I have a police officer friend and all they have to do to know your legal life story, is punch that number in and hit a button.
I've nothing to hide.........of course I don't actually display my license plate either :icon_rolleyes:
i see where you guys are coming from, i guess ive just never really cared if people knew where i lived.
i think someone could do just the same out in the world. write down said plate and use earlier mentioned programs to find you. or do it the old fashioned way, just follow you for a bit. :laugh: i thought the only thing we had to fear was fear itself? :icon_mrgreen:

ya thats pretty much what i think
you ride around every day with you license plate out for the public to see. so blurring it is superfluous and really does not make sense.

But while you are riding, it is pretty hard for even one person to catch the plate number. When posted on the Internetz, it's pretty easy for THOUSANDS of people (some with hacking skills) to see. With identity theft such a major problem I don't take the risk.
agreed. one can take the plate number, trace it, ( provided its current) and go jack the bike/car. ive repoed cars this way before :thumb:

They are a lot better at using your info to rip you off than you are at using your info to buy stuff legit. I don't see how a liscence pate # will matter, but why not blur it so it's a non issue? Magazines blurr out readers' rides pics or won't run them if the plate is legible. I figure they are smarter than I am about that stuff so I do what they do.
I don't bother. So far, the only strange people who have come around knocking on my door are my friends.
