Moving my choke lever to a position where RPMs increase at all, I get 3500-4000 rpm, too high if you ask me, right?
Any position of the lever lower than this and no choke is applied at all
I'm going to be doing a carb rebuild soon and would like to know if theres an additional procedure I should do while I have everything apart

Once it starts to warm up, my bike will idle at 4000 rpm if the choke is fully open. Your choke sounds like it's working fine!
Hm
But this is starting dead cold though, not warmed up. If I start it without choke, it will start but won't hold idle, it will die. If I apply even the slightest bit of choke it will rev to 4k. Shouldn't it be able to have choke applied and only rev to 2kish?
