Ok, so i read the wiki on the katana rear wheel swap and then bought a katana rear wheel for 30$ shipped. Then went back and realized it was year specific on the wiki and i missed it by three years (95 vs 98-02) so my question is has anyone everdone it? And does it swap out without much modification? if there is modification what needs to be done. Major mistake on my part but i believe and have confidence you guys can help.
this will be the easiest swap you will ever do. It's exactly the same wheel. EXACTLY
Looks like you've got the starting point for a nice sidecar outfit.
98-02 yea ... 95 is the same wheel as GS.
Now on the new kat, it will fit in there straight in but you'd need some finessing aith spacers and ehat not to get it all aligned right.
I'd measure it before ... with stock wheel in, write down the spaces to the reference points, then measure it while and after getting spacers right and make sure you have the same differences. Some like that.
Cool.

yeah i figured that out about the wheel being the same. :embarassed: well at least i got a spare tire to throw in the trunk.

That will fit. I would get a rotor (98-02) in addition to that, and those damn things are $$$, $50+ for the things
I have a black one with rotor I'd sell you for $175 if you want, and I may be even persuaded to cut up spacers etc ... but brake arm and chain clearance (small washers) you on your own.
Mine does not have the drive, that is GS. That wheel can take a 170 tire easy, and a 180 with some selective tire choices.
Cool.

Do you really need a 170?
Bwaaaaa ... nope. Ironically though, race take off's 170/180's are easier to find than 130-160's. Its better to do the mod for it so you can use out of someone else's trash pile. The werase gets lots of tars off CBR's and such. Just buy him some skunk bier.
