Title: Engine mount locations vs fairing location on GS500 - animated illustration
Post by: TarzanBoy on August 26, 2008, 08:18:19 PM
Made this for a post on another board, and decided to share it here, where it might help some folks visualize why the GS500 can't really accommodate frame sliders (not practical, functioning ones, anyway)

Behold the power of the animated gif!

keywords (for people who do searches later):  engine mounts bolt, frame sliders on gs500f, protect fairing impossible

The ones that R & G make are useless as frame sliders.   They attach to the rear engine mount where they don't protect the frame at all (so calling them 'frame sliders' is hardly accurate).

The guards they make would help mitigate the impact to the ignition advancer or stator, but just that.

I always woundered if you could put on the sw-motech engine guard under the fairings to protect the engine and then the frame slider to protect the farings?

Frame Slider

It almost looks like it could fit under there.  Does anyone know for sure?

I believe someone did find they fit. Wasn't there a posting within the past couple months?
The SW-Motec are really snug to the engine. I suppose I could see if they fit. I've got some laying around. Give me a day or two.
