Yea over 36 hours ... tremendous productivity and lots of work done ... at work ...
So what happened - I got banned ... just me ...
Cool.
Buddha.
i was having the same issue.
turned out my dns servers hadn't updated to the new ip address of the url. mine was showing an ip of 216.227.217.225 while when in did an nslookup against the ns4.lunarpages.com (the hosting company) they showed an ip of 216.97.225.8. so i just went down and edited my hosts file until my dns catches up.
I was figuring on the DNS update too. Still dead from home, but working from my workplace. :icon_twisted:
you can just go in and manually update your host file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host) add the ip address, tab over and add the entry (gstwins.com)
It wasn't my fault (this time)! :flipoff:
Aaaaaaha. I knew it.
Cool.
Buddha.
finally back up!!! gotta have my daily dose! :icon_lol:
it had to go down when I needed it. Glad it is back though.
stupid dns. we'd all be better off if we had to remember IP's of things we liked to visit. when we're all 82, can't remember jack (no offense jack ! ) and have oldtimers disease, the DNS will be to blame !
I was just about to post about this. I had things I needed to ask, but I forgot them. I guess they weren't very important after all. :dunno_white:
Actually it was more than a DNS issue. The server from what I hear had a serious security flaw and in the process of patching the security flaw they screwed something up. We (john or I) did not get an notification of it to warn anybody. Anyway the server was also moved over to a new location or new machine from what I understand.
Overall it was a bad situation. I am sure i'll hear from the host soon enough with an apology.
One thing I noticed that prior to the server going down I did some post, however, when it got back up today I noticed that the posts I did never went thru.

That wasn't important, and we also missed a few 1000 of pandy's posts ... I just delete them. Then follow it with an rm -R, then a synch kill 1, then take it to single user mode and drop all the tables and indices and rebuild it all clean. Standard procedure, nothing to it, like changing your synthetic blinker fluid and lubricating your muffler bearings.
Cool.
Buddha.
I thought it was just my firewall at work. I was about to go into withdrawals. Glad its back.
Did not know it was down... guess I have more of a life than I thought.
