Title: Hello, All...Newbie here and just got a 92 GS500e
Post by: NickfurY on September 05, 2008, 11:57:05 PM
Hello All,
I just like to introduce myself here and to say that i just picked up a 1992 Gs500e..got it for $314, i think it's a steal but it's not a pefect bike. minor flaws but nothing majors. ther bike does start and run and it rideable but the battery is dead from what i was told (it doesn't hold the charge). well anyhow i got a few question i like to ask you fellow GS'r. now i been reading and looking up info about the GS500e, so these are what i wanted to know and what i primialy want to do to my bike..
1) upgrade the front end to...?....gsxr/katana/sv650?

2) upgrade the rear-end or rear wheel to the...gsxr/katana/sv650?

3)fairing..i do like the naked look along with the sportbike look..now can anyone tell me if the '04 GS500f fairing is a bolt on affair to the Pre '01?

well that just about what i like to know and planning on doing to my bike along with a few other mods, so if anyone and chim in on ther experience and some guideline that'll be great.
thanks and i'll be around..

yes, almost all parts are direct swaps. teh exceptions are the tachometer (electric driven on newer bikes) and the oil cooler, along with some tabs for the plastics to hang on.

you'll want to post some pictures of your $314 gs for us to oogle by the way.

welcome to the forum ! :D

Front and rear katana is a better choice. SV front I've not tried, but it looks very long. GSXR some years are OK for the front end as are rear shocks. But Kat is a better choice if you want stock GS guages etc fitting in the stock location on it.
Cool.

you walked into a steal, but you're not alone, my 95 was only 300...I've spent 140.00 so far and it screams now..

Now, I am concentrating on cosmetic stuff..

Not bad at all for a runner!  Not too much to complain about for $314.  How did you arrive at that price anyway?  Talk 'em down from $315?
