BOTH SETS SOLD THANKS!!
I used these as track tires, so the centers are almost new! 8) They're less than a year old (I put them on last October, took them off a few weekends ago) and should make great street tires for someone. The edges are pretty ragged, but there is still tread all around, it's just quite a bit lower near the edges. They were still sticking fine when I pulled them off. They've never been punctured or repaired, and of course no cracking or dry rot or anything. As a bonus, people will think you're a super bad-ass when they see your tires.
$225-$250 new, how about $55 + shipping. Likely another $25 or so, I'm not sure. Pickup is fine too of course.

you just wanna look like you're a badass with those ragged hoops ;)
not quite. but have you SEEN the crap that imitates actual tires on my Hurricane lately? mismatched, pinched in the rim ancient ass crap is what I've got front and rear.
still for sale.....
man, I would buy these! :dunno_white:
bump
:o
so how much more life u say is on these tires?
honestly I have no idea. I don't put a whole lot of street miles on my tires, and I'm a pretty new rider, so I don't know what to expect. I can say that the centers of these have almost as much tread on them as the new ones I put on. I could actually take some measurements of that tonight and verify if you like. Obviously the sides have significantly less, but for street use, commuting, I'd think they would last almost as long as a new set.
haha ya i have riden his bike and hes not lieing the centers really do have more tread then the side
FWIW, here's a comparison (in inches) of my almost new and used sets:
New Front
0.2 center tread depth
0.16 closer to edge
Used Front
0.16 center tread depth
0.08 lowest I could find close to edge
New Rear
0.24 pretty much everywhere
Used Rear
0.2 center
0.16 closer to edge
So overall it appears there's half the tread left near the edges and more like 80% left on the centers. And of course they're only a year old, rubber is in good shape. And by nature of the low pegs and me not being super awesome, there's still a tiny stripe of tread near the edges that's never seen the pavement.
Helpful? :dunno_white:
hmm. I'm going to get to hang onto these until next season aren't I. :dunno_white:
any offers?
Whats with the ragged treads? Is that just from being used on the track?
well yeah, that's just what tires do on track. Bits of tread get peeled off, wear is much faster, and since the tire's hot it also picks up rubber from others.

yes! And now that we got a few nice days, these are still for sale!
weekend bump
just a suggestion, but maybe if you cleaned them up and re-photograph you might get more interest :dunno_white:
I remember seeing these before I bought my new tires but I didn't like all the rubber chunks hanging off the sides.
If I needed tires I'd buy them. I just put on new RoadRiders.
The crap on the side of the tires is nothing. I have done track days in my Datsun 510 and had the same look on the tire edges. Totally harmless. Somebody buy these things before preston bumps himself to death...

Not a bad idea, though I'm pretty lazy....

yeah, I'm so used to seeing tires like this, I didn't really think it would scare people off! Oh well. :dunno_white:
So folks: It's mostly rubber from other people's tires. Or bits that are about to peel off. And it will come off with some street miles, though maybe not the edges unless you do some serious cornering! :thumb:
does the $75 include shipping?
you can figure shipping right around 25 bucks
what sizes are they?
nm, I just saw the pic with the sizes.

Now that's not true we will pay .01 cent here! No, seriously the bunch here are an upstanding group. And YES many of us do give things to other GSers for free. It's called good Karma. Someone gave me something I really needed cause they had something extra and I went along and gave something I had extra to someone else. Honestly, it has worked really well here but don't down us for that. I buy things as well and pay what people usually ask unless it is insane.
I'm sorry if you've had a bad experience but with 3 post in the last year and 99% of the others in FS/FT I would come back and say you get the great info that the cheapskates here pour their time and effort into without contributing to the forum. what you see what I see. See sounds just like :bs: I'm just not a fan of stereotypes! Esp about a very good group of folks here!
Now Ecpreston how many miles do you think one could get out of 'em. If they are still up in a month or so when I'm back on my feet I may be interested. Is the $25 for both tires or one? So, it would be $100 total to Fl? Or I'll take 'em for Free ;) JK

Probably $100 would get them to FL, sure. Yeah, I haven't put them on CL or ebay or haven't offered to give them away because they do have some value as spares right now in case one fails at the track. The tire guy at the track doesn't normally stock such "small" sizes. As I mentioned earlier, I really have no clue how many street miles are left in them since the vast majority of my tire wear comes from the track. But with ~80% left on the centers, I would assume they would last 80% as long as a new tire.
:dunno_white:
wow.. you have been trying to sell this for 1 year. Free bump for you.

yuk... recovering? Here's hoping this thread is more resilient than your cancer :icon_lol:
reducing price to $65+shipping.
Ok. The old set shown is now $55+shipping.
I also have a more recent set now that I removed very prematurely because I was excited to try some BT003s. These have ONE track weekend on them, are less than a year old, and have at least 3/4ths of the tread left all around. No repairs or anything goofy like that, just nearly new tires. Let's try $110+shipping.
Buy a set of these and I'll tuck some case guards in there for another $70 instead of $80: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=51044.0

I have a stock battleax rear tire on my bike that still has good tread left on it as i replaced it last year. I am looking to replace the front tire though since looking at it this year it looks like it is starting to dry rot a little bit and i believe it is still the tire from factory on the bike as the PO had never replaced any of the tires so it is 6 years old now. Would i have any issues if i were to use the sport demon front with the stock battleax on the rear.
If they won't be a problem mixing the tires then could i just get the front tire. The one from the original set posted will be fine as someone would probably be alot more likely to pick up the newer set. I figure the original front tire posted will last about as long as my rear and then i will be able to replace them as a pair next time.
Thanks

No problems, go for it. Its better to have a grippier front than a grippy rear.

recieved the tires yesterday and they look better in person than the pictures led me to believe they would be. Definitely a good transaction. Someone buy the other set as that is a steal for those tires.
glad they'll work out for you! :thumb:
is there still a set up for grabs???
as far as i know the newer of the two sets is still up for grabs. I recently purchased the older set.
