Title: 89 clip on's on a 94 gs?
Post by: Cal76 on September 12, 2008, 05:45:29 PM
Will 89 gs500 clip on bars fit a 94 gs500 or do you have to modify the front end?

Thanks,
Wayne

You could probably find that by searching... Besides '89, all GSs have the exact same handlebars, so any info you find about putting '89 clipons on a later model bike will be valid...

Yea will fit, you need a inch or 1.5 inch longer handle (I make them) to keep the brake banjo off the dash ... BTW I have one shiny 89 one ... polished one - I didn't show you when you were here ?
$100 and it includes the longer bars. Or $20 for just the bars.
Cool.

Excellent Buddah,  If I need the longer bars, I would like to get them also.  Do you want me to send money via paypal?

Has mark been back to get the forks changed out??

I was actually gonna ask you another question.  I have developed a low throttle response when I am pulling out or running lowish rpm's.  I read about an ignition advancer, is this the best option or could this be another problem??

Thanks,
Wayne

01+ needs bent and longer bars.
89-00 needs longer bars.
Katana conversion on 89-00 needs longer bars.
Katana conversion on 01+ needs bent and longer bars.
I dont drill them for controls. I do cut a slot in it for the knuckle bolts to fit.

Cal76 - Sluggish at low rpm - need more details. May be cured with advancer, but you need to handle carburetion independent of that. Usually sluggish is associated with rich condition. Or, if it feels soggy and wet, that is rich. if it feels like its running out of gas, and feels like hovering etc that is lean. They both can feel sluggish, but the rich condition may be cured by advancer, the lean will get worse, much worse, like misfiring and detonating worse if you advance the timing
Cool.
