Title: Swing arm swap question!!!!
Post by: Cozzy on September 16, 2008, 06:54:50 AM
After all the hard work, I finally installed my Bandit400 swingarm in to the frame with 2 custom spacers made,
However, as the bandit 400 swingarm design is quite different from the GS500 swingarm, the bracket for the donbone on the gs is no the top and the one for the bandit 400 is on the bottom. I tried to put everything from the bandit 400 ( dogbone, linkage, swingarm), on to the bike, however, it makes the bike like a chopper, the swing arm is right next to the rear footpeg. i tired to rise the rear end as much as possible before the shock rubs the swingarm, it is still about 2 inch lower the the orginal ride height.

I reckon I may need to get a longer shock with a custom dogbone to get the bike back to similar right height.

How can i determine the correct shock for this setting?
Should I use a heavier spring or lighter spring, if the shock is lenghten and the dogbone is shorten?

many thanks
