Title: Brief Hiatus - Latest Mod
Post by: laserred97gt on September 16, 2008, 09:16:28 PM
Hey there everybody!

I took a few weeks off the interwebs, as I have been very busy moving into my new house.  This is my first house, and I FINALLY have a garage.  So, even since Comcast finally installed my cable, I have been in the garage working on my Mustang and GS and organizing everything.

I thought I'd share my latest mod which I did in my new garage.  (Did I mention I finally have a garage?)

Anyway, tell me what you think, and if I should post a how-to in the wiki.

If you can't tell what's been done, the rear taillight lens has been flipped over and cut down to more pleasingly match the lines of the bike.  Because this did away with the light hitting the license plate, I wired in two led's for that purpose.  Nevermind the dirt in the first photo, I had to ride through a puddle today.   :cookoo:

Thanks!

I really like the way it turned out.  I took my time and even made connectors for the bolt wires so that I can disconnect them from the harness if I ever need to take the light out.

The bolts I bought about 6 years ago from Autozone or Murrays or something.  I was going to light up some subwoofers in a camaro I had, but good taste overcame and the LED's were  never installed.  I've been keeping them, knowing that someday I'd be able to do something with them.

Here's some similar ones I found with a simple google search.  http://www.amazon.com/StreetGlow-ANSCRNB-L-E-D-Light-Bolts/dp/B0002I9XDA (http://www.amazon.com/StreetGlow-ANSCRNB-L-E-D-Light-Bolts/dp/B0002I9XDA)

I will do a step-by step, as there was a lot more I did than just cutting it.  I also painted part of it, sealed it with weatherstripping adhesive, etc.. to make it not only look good, but to perform well for a long time.
