i just bought my 02 gs500, i love it! ive already shaved down the rear fender and its a great improvement. im just wondering if there is a good site to get aftermarket parts for this bike. i looked at tuning kits from dynojet and they dont have one for the 02, would the 2000 one work? i would assume the carbs are the same but i dunno... also any one have HIDS on thier gs? know where to get some? thanks.
Dyno jet kits are CRAP they never work well and are over priced. their is tons of rejeting info here on the board just search for it.
there really isn't one big site of parts alot of the parts for our bike are custom fit or just happen to fit from another bike
Check out the wiki pages for exhaust parts. I believe www.customdynamics.com has HID light for motorcycle and all sorts of other light product. There are very few aftermarket parts for built for GS500 however with little modification most will somehow fit. browsing through the post in this forum the best way you are going to find a specific aftermarket part you want. ebay is your best bet for exhaust cheap.
I use bikebandit.com for most of my parts (OEM replacements and aftermarket). HID kits are doable from what I've heard, but they are way too expensive ($200) for no return in performance if you ask me.
The Wiki has GREAT info on modifications:

WELCOME TO THE SITE!
thanks guys ill check all that stuff out. im mostly looking to get HIDs, a k&n, exhuast and i should be good for now. im very happy to be a part of this forum. i was worried there wasnt going to be a good group of enthusiasts for this particular bike.
you've got some really nice mirrors there. and the color scheme is sv650 -esque. very nice.
+1 billion on dynojet being crap. you can rejet your bike in 45 minutes with <$20 worth of parts if you really want to.
+1 billion on the wiki, it's ALL been done before ;)
Welcome to the forum, sharp bike, RIDE SAFE ! :)
When I bought my 96' GS, it came with a brand new, unopened Dynojet kit. From what I gather on this forum it's not worth the trouble. If anything I have some jets to pick from if I can ever decipher their sizes since they're coded.
IMHO, check this out as other's have already mentioned.
