Hi,
I have the opportunity to pick up an F4i front end and I am wondering how much effort would be needed to swap it to my 98 gs500e.
Does not include brake caliper, but has the triples and clipons.
Any thoughts or things to watch out for?
Thanks,
CliffHanger
This is easy as pie ... just dont try to do a guage mount by welding to the triple ... I ground out the stem, and the damn F4 sheite is paper thin compared to the kat 600, and swap bearings - honda got ball, GS needs roller ... maybe the ignition lock will work ... maybe the switch from the GS fits it ... didn't try all that ... maybe I could ... but its easy ...
Oh wait, mine may be an F3 not an F4 ... same concept though ... and yea you need a 26 uppwe bearing, GS uses a 25, but you buy a taper bearings conversion kit for an F3 and it will fit the GS perfectly. Upper bearing has a 26mm ID but all other dimensions on the bearings are same as GS.
Cool.

Does the same process apply to fitting a GSXR600 K6 front end?
No idea, I thought the GSXR's has straight stems, 32 mm upper and lower ... or maybe 30 ... that top 30 has to be turned to 26 and use CBR bearings or 25 and use suzuki ones and the real problem is, you turn it 5mm dia and it may break, I didn;t think there was enough aluminum in there to withstand that. May be mistaken. I'd swap stems instead of turning the GSXR ... and then your top triple needs that massive stem to fit, so you have to sleeve it smaller ... better than turning teh GSXR stem.
Cool.

Dunno about the K6 GSXR, but all you have to do to stick on a TL front end is swap bearings. You can search for posts by me...I have the bearing sizes listed somewhere.
