Glad you're OK and on this board with us. I have the utmost respect for those who have chosen to volunteer and serve our country.

#1 mediastinal emphysema(, bends and busted ear drums (underwater escape and evasion) 2 x filling blew up from the pressure . #2. bullet left forearm and wrist. #3 shrapnel's left shoulder, cheek, right thigh(still partially numb), busted ear drums . #4 concussion, partial paralysis right leg from shrapnel as well as upper right leg too friggin close to the groin. a few things not reported but prolly from combat. 2 x hernia, partial amputation left pinkie, missing big toe nails(from running like a mad man in combat boots). gastro problems from eating off the land. several busted ear drums, 3x bends which led to partial paralysis of my left arm. broken nose and missing cartilage. not to mention the ptsd. last night i punched myself several times in my sleep.

sounds like something from a bad hollywood war movie. :icon_rolleyes: and no, frankie, i'm not being disrespectful to you or your service, it was just a comment. take it with a grain of salt. ;)
I'd be demanding plenty of meds and a King's Ransom to live on. You are the only person I've ever heard speak (type) of "the bends".
I think there are only two places "down here" that can handle "the bends". I THINK but ain't 100% sure one is near the coast of Louisiana and the other is Florida. I freak out past about 12 or 15 feet so the snorkel is the way to go for me! :)
And truthfully I am saddened to hear of your woes. You have done a great service for all of us. I thank you.
I think our hyperbaric chamber was in New Orleans before Katrina. I think it is now gone. How many atmospheres did you have to ascend from (I know I shouldn't end my sentences with prepositions)?
the bends are not really a big deal.. i would guess that 1/2 of navy divers/ spec ops divers etc had some sort of bends some time in their career. it is just physics and the operational requirements of the job.

Why not , the canadians do, or is it they end their questions with questions, , like this : So you think its cold Eh?, ( convo i had with a border guard at windsor)
3 ata, the navy has dozens of chambers. the two man chambers are portable and can be anywhere in the country in less than 24 hours. we used to take one with us on board the cormorant.
