Title: stock GS500E subframe
Post by: bobthebiker on September 19, 2008, 04:29:18 PM
would anyone be interested in the stock subframe off my extra frame?   its unbent, and in good shape.  frame has no title so if you want the subframe just PM me, because otherwise I'm hacking it all up for scrap metal.

Where did you hack it ... I would like the top rail about 12 inches worth from the part where it hits the frame. Extra credit if its an 89 frame.
Cool.

Yeah! its an 89,  I havent cut it yet, so just send me like a picture of where you'd like it cut, and I'll go get it done.

Easy ... top rail cut at the point it joins the frame - make sure you keep that angle and follow the frame. Then cut it a foot away from that point towards the back. I just need it to the point the tank attaches. But beyond that, yea I can use it.
But if its too much, dont worry, I am planning to cut the subframe I cut off the other day ... just trying to be lazy ... and I like the 89 way ... top rail joins the frame without that gusset Y shape.
Cool.

aye.  got it now.  both sides correct?  if I remember right off my runner I had, the battery sits in an inconvenient location that lets acid drip onto the left subframe rail, cant remember if it was the upper or lower one, but it would ultimately eat the metal and leave a rust hole there.  I was thinking this was your reasoning for the frame rail am I correct?

if it fits in the box, I'll get it in there to ya.  need anything else?  I've got a few other misc GS parts taking up space, like a swingarm, stock shock, brake caliper bracket and the support bar, chain adjusters, good clutch perch, etc.  if ya need somethin, feel free to ask, I MAY just have it.

you got it Buddha.   doesnt have any switches or the cable adjuster thingie, but its not broke, and I'd imagine if you've got a broken perch, you could easily pick the parts you need off it.

$50 ... dang ... inflation is really biting us in the butt ... literally ...
I chopped one a week ago ... oh no ... I am out 50 bucks ... and I threw away 3-4 shocks, cut up atleast 2 in some gruesome experiment, cut a good many mufflers, tore up rear frnders like there was no tommorow ... yikes ... thrown away 3-4-5 million bucks.
Cool.

well hey, I'll take offers on the thing, I mean its a perfectly good subframe, and I'd hate to just hack it up and scrap it if someone can use it, ya know?
