Title: How to fall and other stuff
Post by: nightrider on September 19, 2008, 05:54:04 PM

In event of a crash or fall, what is the proper way to fall or position yourself after you have hit the ground?

In my recent accident I hit the ground hard but it didn't really hurt me. I wasn't truly injured until I had begun rolling in a heap, somersault-ish, maybe somewhat sideways, and on one of these rolls my foot was flopped against the pavement really hard.

I see track riders try to position themselves legs-first flat out or on their back. I was afraid to lenghten my body at the time as I felt it would be more dangerous, not less.

Would it have been better to lay flat and try to slide, or even roll sideways like stuntmen? I instinctively just relaxed and let the momentum carry me forward in a roly poly fashion, more to avoid rash, but it seems I could have avoided breaking my ankle.

Go limp , Why do u think it doesnt hurt when u fall over drunk? admittedly the booze helps . but its the fact ur muscles are contracting and going hard , so it hits something hard

when ur limp it hurts less .     When someone just hits u in the face , hurts alot less then knowning someone is going to. be cause u tense up

So if i doubt , just go like a ragdoll
